Move Over Celine Luggage Tote, A New It Bag is in Town

The latest It Bag is sold out at Louis Vuitton stores across Europe so you may want to get your's soon before the fad hits the the U.S. - if you can afford it that is.  The Louis Vuitton Capucine leather handbag starts at $5,150.00 for the MM and $5,600 for the larger GM and there is already a long waitlist for the bag in Europe when it first debuted in June.  It's part of LV's Fall 2013 collection and named after rue des Capucines which was the location of the first LV store when it opened in Paris in 1854.

But what makes this bag an It Bag?


First, the understated LV logo only appears once instead of the common monogram pattern. This attracts consumers who don't need to shout, "Hey! look I'm carrying an LV bag!"  Second, the leather is full-grain Taurillon calf-leather meaning it comes from the top layer of the hide and its the same leather Hermès uses for its Birkin and Kelly bags.  There is minimal chemical processing which allows it to retain durability for longer.  Third, the astronomical price truly weeds out the haves and have-nots so if you can get your hands on one given the wait list, you must be important.  Fourth, celebrities have been seen toting around this bag so ofcourse you want it!
